This is the history of the first round of the Dunlop Romanian Superbike held at the Greek racetrack in Serres.
The weekend didn’t started very well for me, as I was challenged by a strong cold all week. I found the strenght to ride 2 sessions Friday after the launch break, when the weather was great, 18-19 degrees Celsius. Saturday we had the best rainy day since I’ve ever been in Greece so far. Most of the riders went in with rain tires, but I didn’t as I didn’t had with me and they were sold out. I just waited and watch all the others riding in wet.
The last day came with 14 degrees and no rain, fortunately. That was great, as I could line up in the race. The bad part was that Friday, in those 2 sessions I didn’t had a transponder with me, Saturday I didn’t ride at all so I didn’t had a single timed lap. That got me outside A class race and also at the end of the grid for B class race. I was starting the race from the 6th row and the 23rd position.
Had a great start of the race, so in turn 1 I was already in 7th position. The first 5 laps I tried to overtake Victor Mihailescu, who rides a GSX-R 1000, which made it very difficult on the straights. Then Emilian Cioata overtook me and for a full lap I had 2 GSX-R 1000 in front to overtake. In lap 7, at the exit of the left “hairpin” I did made the overtake on both 1000cc riders and was going after the 5th position, but in the end I finished the race on 6th overall and 2nd Romanian of the race.
After the flag, I just had a short dive in the mud, a little motocross! The picture from paddock with my Israeli friend, Yaniv Kitlaro, speaks by itself.
I’ll make some time over the next days in order to fill up this entry with all the pictures from the event.

This is my second visit at the Serres racetrack, just that this time I had only 1 day of practice/qualifying, as it was a 2 days event. Managed to pull a 1.37.6 time in qualifying session and in the B class race (600cc + 1000cc combined) I finished 13th out of 31 riders, with personal best of 1.36.1, which is faster by 7.8 seconds since my first visit at Serres. This time would actually be my 2nd ever race.
Hope the next time I get to this racetrack I’ll improve even more the lap times in order to lineup in the Supersport A class.

Here are some photos taken at the last round of the Dunlop Romanian Superbike Championship.
Thursday – sunny and warm – All was good (except my right leg), had a decent pace, until I crashed in the last free practice session. The bike took some damage but it was still running at 100% after minor tweaks.
Friday – sunny and warm – I was rubbish all day long, my right leg injury was still giving me hell.
Saturday morning – decided to pack my shit and not to compete the race.
Sunday – cold and showers around – Lots of crashes.
Here are some pictures of the first 2 days.
4 Days, 2500 km on the road, a few cans of RedBull, just a few hours of sleep, 2 amazing racetracks, a lot of fun. That’s what 5th to 8th of September it’s all about.

Yesterday it was another day spent on the small track Amckart.
This time I tried the kart as well, and had my lucky number to be proud of. Was a fun thing to do actually, even though it had only 6.5 BHP. ![]()
